Altar Guild
Altar Guild is a ministry to serve God in His House for worship by preparing for Holy Communion, setting up and cleaning up, maintaining and caring for communion ware, refilling the candle canisters with oil, changing the paraments per the church calendar, caring for the Altar linens, preparing the Befrienders visitation baskets. Join our group of faithful volunteers.

Archives
Are you interested in history? The church archives contains photos and documents that date back to 1860, when First Lutheran was established. They meet every Thursday at 10am to organize the history of the church in such a manner that the information is accessible and retrievable. Our history is an important reference of what has been to use as a tool for imagining and living out the present and future mission of the church. Come be part of the next generation of archivists!

Befrienders Ministry
The Befrienders lay ministry program is a vital part of pastoral ministry at First Lutheran. Comprised of a large group of volunteers, both men and women, Befrienders offer a listening, compassionate presence, and the opportunity to offer Holy Communion to members who are homebound, in the hospital, or at one of the various care centers in the Beaver Dam area. Befrienders are trained, and typically have 1-3 people assigned to them to visit at least once a month.

Calico Cut-Ups
Are you crafty? The women of Calico Cutups gather the 1st Tuesday of every month at 9am for creating, visiting, and laughing. Whatever kind of craft you’re interested in—coloring with crayons or colored pencils, knitting a sweater, embroidery, and everything in between—bring your current project and join in the fun. The group usually goes out for lunch afterwards.

Dartball
Dartball anyone? Join them on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at 7pm throughout the year for friendly competition, fellowship, and snacks. No previous experience necessary. Whatever your skill level, the company is always right on target!

Evangelical
First Lutheran’s Evangelism Team, is about sharing the message of Jesus Christ in a way that resonates with individuals and leads them to a personal relationship with God. It's about authentically sharing your faith, building relationships, and creating opportunities for people to learn about Jesus's love, forgiven and salvation.

Our Evangelism team has worked head to build relationships within the community and try to create opportunities to have interaction with people which can then lead to deeper conversations about faith. We’ve done this offering vaccine clinics, and by offering free ice cream Sundays in the park along with helping families to stay safe by giving free fixed bike helmets. We’ve also have a church float in the Holiday Parade.

GriefShare
GriefShare is a special weekly support group designed to help you rebuild your life after losing a loved one. Our group is led by caring people who have experienced grief and want to help you through the difficult days ahead. We know it hurts, and we want to help. For more information, contact the Church Office.

Parents Supporting Parents
Join other parents for coffee, treats, and conversations! This is a time to connect and support each other through our our parenting journey. Parents Supporting Parents meets October -May, once a month on varying Saturday mornings at 8:30am. All parents and caregivers are welcome!

Quilting
Our quilters are hard at work every Wednesday morning at 9am from Labor Day to Memorial Day sewing quilts to be distributed across the globe through Lutheran World Relief. It’s not all work and no play, however, with this group. Conversation is shared, friendships and a feeling of community is nurtured. They have an open invitation to anyone who would like to join them—they’ll teach you what you need to know!

Retirees
The Retirees are a lively and hospitable group that meet on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 11:30am, September - May. The day offers a program, working on tray favors for the local nursing homes, and a lunch catered by Pizza Ranch. There are lots of opportunities for friendship and fellowship. They usually attend church service at 1:00pm. Everyone is welcome to join them.

Social Concerns
The Social Concerns Committee has been a part of First for many years. The purpose of this committee is to address the needs in our local church, the community, and the world. Some of the ways we have helped throughout the past few years have been sending college and military care packages, creating Christmas food baskets, and collecting personal essential items for people in need.

Thrivent
The First Lutheran Thrivent group has dedicated members that meet monthly. We are always looking for new people to join us for our monthly meal and meeting. The funds that we get through Choice Dollars are used for different projects, both in the community and at First Lutheran, depending on the need. We have cookie sales throughout the year from September to May as well. We welcome anyone who has questions to talk with anyone in the group or the church office.
